A low hum in UK PA371QS

Low humming sound, more prominent at night I first noticed this after moving to a quiet house in the countryside where we still live. I was initially convinved the sound was real and spent several nights outside and inside trying to isolate its source. At my work we have some professional acoustic recording equipment which I borrowed to try and record the sound but it did not seem to pick up anything. My personal conclusion is that the noise, which is like a quiet low white-noise, is being generated by my mind to compensate for the lack of aural inputs due to our extremely quiet house location. Although initially quite disturbing I have acclimatised to it although still notice it if I concentrate on the phenomenum.
