The same dream, the same place, or the thing before it happened.
Nothing here yet. That is the point.
Something wearing the wrong shape
An animal that moves like it should not, in the American Southwest and beyond
The accounts follow a pattern: an animal, usually canine, that rises onto two legs, keeps pace with a car without effort, or answers from the dark in a voice it should not have. The word most people arrive here searching for comes from Diné (Navajo) tradition, where it names something specific and is not spoken of lightly. That tradition belongs to the people who carry it, and this page does not retell it. What it can honestly hold is what witnesses report.
What people describe
Three details recur in accounts of this kind wherever they are collected: wrongness of gait, an animal moving on two legs or switching between two and four; impossible speed alongside vehicles; and mimicry, a voice or a cry that imitates a human, a baby, or a known person. The dread witnesses report is out of all proportion to what was actually seen.
Why we are careful with the name
In Diné culture this is a real and serious matter, not an internet monster, and members of that community have asked outsiders repeatedly not to treat it as entertainment. We use the word on this page because it is what people search, and we stop there. The record collects what people saw. It does not borrow anybody's tradition to decorate it.
What this record actually holds
The reason is worth stating plainly rather than hiding. This record is seeded from archives that already existed: sightings in the sky, encounters in the woods, the French space agency's case files, a decade of dream journals, sworn testimony before Congress. Each one only holds what somebody thought to ask about. Nobody has built the archive for this, which is most of why it took years of searching at two in the morning for the person who built this site to work out that what happened to him had happened to anybody else. That story is here.

Did this happen to you?
Then you would be the first, and the page changes the moment you are. Write it in your own words, and every account that arrives after yours gets checked against it. It takes two minutes and you can stay anonymous.
Tell us what happenedKnow someone this happened to?
This is the page that did not exist when the person who built this site needed it. If somebody you know has been carrying one of these around, send it to them.
Nothing is tracked back to you and nothing is sent on your behalf. The link is just the page you are reading.
