On March 5, 2015 at 7:13 a.m., a witness at Longueville station is intrigued by the shape of an airplane contrail. As the witness clearly saw, this contrail is rather exceptional. GEIPAN submitted the photograph to Météo-France experts: "This is indeed a condensation trail that, after its formation, was deformed by the turbulence prevailing at the place where it was created. Very agitated zones can indeed exist in clear sky (this is called 'clear-air turbulence'). These zones are feared by pilots because they are difficult to predict, are not visible on radar, and are the site of violent phenomena that force crews to change flight level to preserve passenger comfort. Such a photo with such marked sinuosities is however a first for us. This rare case is classified 'A' observation of a condensation trail from the Airbus A319 of flight AF7614 Marseille-Lille (see Flight Radar map at 7:13 a.m. local time), strongly disturbed by atmospheric turbulence.
