Waking and being unable to move, while absolutely certain somebody is there. Sleep researchers have a name for part of this and it explains a great deal. It does not explain why so many people, who never spoke to each other, describe the same figure standing in the same place. The waking archives collected almost none of this, and this page says so rather than padding the count.
