On December 29 at 6:30 p.m., a witness is intrigued by a white disk on a downward trajectory in the sky. He takes a photograph and asks the GEIPAN for explanations.
After checks on the photograph making it possible to establish the exact time the photo was taken and the characterization of the bright points that appear in the sky, it turns out that:
- the photo was taken around 6:05 p.m.,
- what the witness indicates as a "star" in the photo is a "hot" or "dead" pixel on the camera's sensor, which appears systematically at position 1774 and 883 (very "spiky" appearance, fluorescent green, and above all present at the same position in later photos (see the document: DSC_0003_photo_test_pixel.jpg).
What the witness indicates as "and that?" while pointing to a large bright point near the horizon is indeed the planet Venus (at this time, no other celestial body than Venus was visible, except perhaps Mars).
