On August 17, 2014, a witness observed a straight luminous line, then several others moving across the sky. He filmed and photographed the phenomenon. Observing straight lines at sunset near the horizon is characteristic of seeing airplane condensation trails. The excellent visibility that day allowed the witness to see airplanes farther away than usual: because of this distance, the trails appear shorter, slower, and oriented more or less vertically if the plane's trajectory is moving away from or toward the witness. The appearance or disappearance of the trail can depend on local weather conditions at the plane. The photos leave no doubt about this phenomenon, and the witness was looking in a direction where air traffic is very heavy, especially on a summer Sunday evening.
