On Friday, March 30, 2018, around 10 p.m., a witness (T1) comes out of his house and sees a reddish light moving in the sky and disappearing. He then sees two other luminous phenomena of the same type and takes a photograph with his mobile phone. One of the two lights begins a turn to come toward the witness, who goes back inside his house. He comes back out with his partner (T2), and together they will observe up to 7 luminous phenomena moving silently in the night sky. Only these two testimonies are collected. One of the witnesses disputes the first explanation from GEIPAN, yet the observation is probably related to a movement of Thai lanterns: - the color, the procession of several UAPs one behind the other, the occurrence on a weekend night, the movement in the direction of the wind measured that evening (from SE to NW, see the attached file) are all elements supporting this hypothesis. T1 mainly objects that at one point a UAP made a turn in his direction before resuming its normal course. This does not contradict the hypothesis because: - it may be an error of interpretation. The UAPs move at medium altitude in the sky, far from the vertical. If the lantern at a given moment shone more brightly, it is typical for this to be understood as a horizontal approach of the UAP toward the witness. Likewise, a decrease in intensity would have been perceived as a moving away; - it is entirely possible that a globally well-oriented wind is locally accompanied by disturbances (woods, urban development, river) and follows a non-straight line. A lantern out of line with the others, or the whole set of lanterns in single file, can follow this wind line. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as B: probable observations of Thai lanterns.
