low frequency hum, louder at night and inside of house. Sounds like a fan motor in other room or an engine running some distance away from home. The closest industrial facilities capable of inducing this type of noise into the ground are both 6 miles from my house. One is the Vector Pipeline Gas Compressor Station. The other is the General Motors Proving Grounds Noise Vibration Laboratory.
