Low frequency hum The hum is loudest inside the house but sounds like it is coming from outside. When I go outside it is still audible but less so with ambient noise and I cannot determine any direction as an origin point. I believe the house acts as an amplifier and the frequency or the vibration caused by the frequency is channeled through the structure and the resultant hum is amplified in the hollow space of the structure.
The best description for the sound is like music coming from far away so only the bass or low frequency can be heard but there is no musical pattern or beat just a constant hum. It also is similar to large plant machinery noise but there is no corroborative noise with it; ie: diesel engines and/or change in pitch with movement.
