low pitched hum/vibration, fluctuating with intensity, non directional. When I am inside I hear it and it seems like it is coming from outside but when outside I can't really hear it. it is reassuring to hear other people describe this hum so exactly like i hear it. Glad to know I'm not going nuts - or at least I think I'm not going nuts!
