A beam of light in Oise, France

On September 29, 2016 at 8:15 PM, a witness in his garden is intrigued by cottony masses spinning rapidly and without any noise in the cloudy sky. The witness calls his partner and his neighbor, who observe the same thing. The UAP turns counterclockwise. The phenomenon disappears behind the clouds at 11 PM. It was not bright enough to be photographed. Two testimonies were collected on this phenomenon. This is most likely laser beams, coming from a nightclub or a festive or exceptional event, reflecting on the cloud layer or on the fine rain screen (both were present that evening). The witness himself confirms this origin because he sees at times the light beam rising from the ground toward the place in the sky where the "strange" discs could previously be found. Neighbors of the witnesses mention spotlights. Indeed, depending on the conditions of the air layer, one can see the patterns created (on the natural screen) or the beams alone without the patterns, or both, somewhat like in a movie theater, imagining at times cigarette smoke (visible beams) with or without the presence of the screen (patterns present or not). Depending on atmospheric conditions, the effective distance of a laser is highly variable: it can reach tens of kilometers, which can make the phenomenon fleeting or even exceptional at a great distance from the emission site. GEIPAN did not identify the emitter of the beam, but has several cases with similar effects that were identified. Consequently, GEIPAN classifies this case as B: pink sky or light spots.
