A triangle shape in Bouches-du-Rh�ne, France
On August 6, 2015 at 10:20 PM, a witness spots in the sky the rapid passage of a translucent triangular shape that intrigues him. No noise, no blinking, no trail are noticed. Only one testimony is collected.
The witness observes the phenomenon moving from the Southwest to the Northeast over a few tens of degrees in one second.
A first check of the astronomical context, via the Calsky website (see attached record), indicates a pass of the International Space Station (ISS) from 10:20 PM to 10:25 PM, from West to East, at low elevation, simultaneous with the observation but fairly far from the witness's direction of observation, who, lying down, looks toward the zenith.
The speed of the phenomenon, and the coincidence with the observation period of the Perseid meteor shower (shooting stars), points toward a hypothesis of 3 simultaneous shooting stars (possibly from the same body). This hypothesis, of course, does not explain the hollow triangular shape observed by the witness. This shape may be a perception illusion (see the link Shape or outline illusion.) But this hypothesis cannot be confirmed. The witness, questioned by phone, specified that the brightness of the luminous points did not resemble that of a shooting star.
The very short observation, by a single witness, does not allow for a detailed characterization of the phenomenon.
