An account in Ain, France

A witness at their post at the Sylans toll station on the A40 motorway (municipality of Neyrolles (01)) observes for about twenty seconds the silent passage of a luminous phenomenon in the sky. This phenomenon, followed by a trail, advances slowly at low altitude in the mountainous landscape. A press article reporting several testimonies prompted the witness to make a statement, but no other witness could be found. This case is moderately consistent (single witness), the description of the observed UAP is precise. The sincerity and credibility of the witness have never been questioned, although the witness very likely made a date error regarding their observation (see the document: investigation notes). The described phenomenon presents many common characteristics (observation duration, shape, size, movement speed, trajectory) with a perfectly known astronomical phenomenon: an artificial atmospheric re-entry. Moreover, this testimony can fit perfectly within the mass observation that followed the atmospheric re-entry of March 31, 1993 (Cyclone-M rocket). It is not the witness's visual perception that is in question, but the interpretation the witness makes of their observation through their feelings (night observation of an unusual astronomical phenomenon, late testimony). In the current GEIPAN classification, this case of low strangeness is classified as UAP A, observation linked to the artificial atmospheric re-entry of March 31, 1993.
