On January 26, 2015 at 6:55 PM, a witness observes in the sky an orange ball, much brighter than Venus, and twice as big. When the witness, intrigued, wants to take a photo 10 minutes later, the phenomenon has disappeared.
The witness observes below the Moon a celestial body that he takes for Venus (see his very clear diagram on page 9 of his questionnaire), and in alignment, another large point much brighter and red, which seems strange to him.
The sky chart shows us that the celestial body located slightly below the Moon is not Venus but Mars (of magnitude 1.36, that is to say slightly brighter than the stars of the Big Dipper). Lower down, in the same axis, we find Venus, of magnitude 3.34 that day, that is to say about 4 times brighter; as Venus is at its setting, it appears redder, like all celestial bodies in this position: 15 minutes later, Venus, having set, will have become invisible.
