The observation of white (or yellow) lights passing through the sky, lasting a few minutes, on a weekend night suggests Thai lanterns. In this case, the witness describes a movement toward the West while the wind was blowing from North to South (recorded at Chartres); GEIPAN called the witness to clarify the movement of the objects: the witness described a movement along the axis of Rue des Frères Lumière, in its NE/SW section; the luminous objects were apparently moving toward the Southwest, which becomes more consistent with the northerly wind recorded at Chartres and Orléans.
The color of Thai lanterns is most often described as yellow or orange, but, seen from the side, lanterns are sometimes perceived as white.
