A triangle shape in Ille-et-Vilaine, France

On July 25, 2013 at 12:05 AM, a witness observed in the sky the silent movement of three white luminous points forming an equilateral triangle. A simulation of satellite passes using the Calsky.com website indicates that the YAOGAN9 satellite triplet is visible to the witness during the observation. These satellites appear as three luminous points arranged in an equilateral triangle, separated from each other by an angular distance of about 1 degree, that is, 2 times the apparent diameter of the full Moon. These satellites can reflect sunlight for a few seconds (flare). See examples, with very different fields of view, at: Yaogan Satellite Triplet Flare and at the 40th second on the right side of the video NOSS Yaogan Triplet Flare? The fact that the witness no longer sees the stars at the center of the triangle is probably a classic perception illusion when observing grouped luminous points. The witness states in his questionnaire that the apparent size of the triangle corresponds to 6 cm at arm's length (about 5 to 6 degrees), then in a separate message that, on 5/12/13 at 2:40 AM, "the triangle formed by the middle star of the belt with the two feet is identical in proportion, at the same heading and height": this triangle is about 8 degrees per side. GEIPAN does not have the means to verify that the reflection of the sun on the satellite actually occurred at that precise moment. The significant difference between the size of the Yaogan triplet (1 degree) and the size reported by the witness (between 5 and 8 degrees) is significant, and leaves doubt about this hypothesis. Due to the almost perfect coincidence in time and position with the passage of these satellites, despite certain inconsistencies with the testimony, GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of sunlight reflections on the YAOGAN9 satellite triplet.
