On December 28, 2014 at 6:20 PM, a passenger in a car is intrigued by the presence of two fixed, parallel lights in the sky. When the lights fly over the car, the witness notes through the panoramic roof that it is a dark equilateral triangle, point to the south. The triangle is formed by a light inside each corner, and one, less bright, in the center. The trajectory is straight. The witness's description of two then three luminous points at low altitude, flying in a straight line toward the south, the mention of two blinking lights, point toward the hypothesis of a low-altitude aircraft, arriving from the north (from Great Britain?), and preparing to land at Nantes-Bouguenais, from the south, facing the wind (see the north wind reading at Nantes Météociel). Of course, the fact that the witness describes a triangle and not an aircraft seems contradictory with this hypothesis; but the witness essentially sees the powerful landing lights, and, blinded, does not distinguish the fuselage (see an example in photo DSC_6916_avion.jpg). This is a common perception illusion, called contour illusion, or shape illusion, which gives the impression of a triangle encompassing the luminous points. Due to the significant delay after the observation, GEIPAN could not access the aeronautical information needed to determine which aircraft was seen. GEIPAN classifies this case "B": probable observation of an aircraft preparing to land.
