Witnesses observe several trails in the cloudy sky that eventually disappear one behind the other. A child takes photographs with his mobile phone. Because of the dry north wind (65% humidity, source Météociel), these trails are short; due to the observation conditions (sunset at 6:01 PM in Le Mans), they are still in full sunlight, while the blue of the sky begins to darken: the contrast is then very strong, and the trails look like flames. When the Earth's shadow reaches these trails, they are no longer illuminated, and then are no longer visible because they are much less bright than the blue of the sky.
