Moving in formation in Sarthe, France

On August 28, 2010 at around 10:20 PM, a motorist and his passenger saw eight orange-colored balls moving in the sky in a staggered formation at an altitude of about 500 meters and along a north to southeast trajectory. The phenomenon lasted about 4 minutes: no noise or odor was perceived. Following receipt of the police report on October 14, 2010, the weather conditions established for the location, date, and time of the observation show a wind coming from the NNW, consistent with the direction of movement from north to southeast of flying objects lighter than air, such as balloons or flying lanterns ("8 orange-colored balls"). The description of "8 orange balls" moving along "a regular trajectory" together at low altitude (500 meters), in the evening (Saturday night, wedding, party) at around 10:30 PM local time makes the observation of a probable passage of Thai lanterns somewhat more credible.
