White light in Gironde, France
On August 2, 2011, at around 8:15 p.m., a female driver and her son observed in the sky a bright white glow, motionless, above the rooftops of the town center of Langon. Continuing on their way, the witnesses lost sight of the phenomenon. Only the driver's testimony is reported.
Due to the geometry of the observation (observation opposite the sun, shortly before sunset), several sources compatible with the characteristics of this observation can be considered: a reflection of the Sun on the fuselage of a distant airplane, a reflection on a weather balloon released from Bordeaux Mérignac, a reflection on a child's balloon (metallic balloon) released from Langon, or a temporary reflection on a satellite.
In any case, it was not possible for us to identify with certainty the source of this possible misidentification.
Slightly strange and of medium consistency, this case cannot be concluded as it stands, but is very likely a reflection of the sun on an ordinary flying object.
