Vanishing suddenly in Saône-et-Loire, France
On April 10, 2014 at around 6 p.m., a witness observed a bright stationary object in the sky. The observation lasted about thirty seconds, then the object disappeared instantly. Only one testimony was collected. A bright object observed to the West in the late afternoon suggests the reflection of the sun on an airplane or balloon. If it is an airplane, one must consider a distant airplane (more than 50 km away), traveling in a direction close to that of the witness. The sudden disappearance is probably explained by a change in the object's orientation relative to the sun: it would be the reflection that disappeared, not the object itself. This case, which is not very strange, is classified "B" — probable observation of the reflection of the setting sun on a distant high-altitude airplane (likely EZY434P according to Gasperflights).
