Red lights in Pyr�n�es-Orientales, France
Testimonies collected in November 2009 about an old sighting made in October 2008 (the witness no longer remembers the exact date but indicates the end of October).
Around 6 a.m., two witnesses get into their utility vehicle and begin their rounds. They first notice a very bright phenomenon like a star, then secondly they see above the houses of the village they are passing through a huge black triangle with a red light in the middle.
This sighting includes two phenomena that are not necessarily linked:
- The white bright point, a priori too bright to think it could be Saturn, which is however in a nearby direction.
- The black triangle with a red light: one might think of an airplane, but the witness would have reported one of the position lights and especially the flashing of the anti-collision lights.
It is noted that the movement of this object would be compatible with that of a conventional aircraft: it is the shape and the light signaling that make it strange.
The late date of the testimony did not allow verification with the aviation authorities.
This sighting case is of medium to high strangeness, and the investigation conducted significantly reinforced its consistency. None of the usual hypotheses can properly explain the observation of the triangular object described by the witnesses.
This case is classified "D1" as unexplained.
