Red lights in Allier, France

On May 3, 2009 at around 10:15 PM, a witness is intrigued by the silent passage above their home of an object. White flashing lights at each corner outline, for the witness, a dark triangular shape, and a steady red light is also seen. The witness then calls their spouse, who will only distinguish two white lights and one non-flashing red light moving away in the sky. The first witness will follow the object with their eyes for about 4 to 5 minutes. No other testimony will be collected. No civil aircraft flight is indicated in the airspace of the towns mentioned by the witness. After investigation, in view of the police report, the elements collected, the trips made on the ground, the hearing of the witness, and the research done, this case proves on the one hand complex, because three phases of observation that are not necessarily linked can be distinguished, and on the other hand proves to be of little substance since the witness, the only one, gives an account that is not always coherent (the long delay of the investigation is of course an important factor in this problem). However, the testimony of the spouse is noted, but it concerns only the end of the observation, the least strange part. It is troubling that the witness does not mention the moon, which was nevertheless exactly in their field of observation: it is almost certain that this celestial body played a part in a portion of the phenomenon, without it being possible to clearly say how. But this cannot explain the steady red light spotted by both witnesses. A complex scenario of fireworks, followed by a misidentification with the moon through the clouds coinciding with an aircraft passage could be considered, but several characteristics do not fit. Faced with these various uncertainties, and without even being able to establish that this phenomenon is truly strange, GEIPAN classifies this case as "C" due to lack of reliable information.
