low frequency drone hum, idling diesel engine at a distance, slight resonance, brief reduction of intensity at random intervals (1 to 5 secs) My experiential opinion is this: The 'sound' is carried through the ground, and not airborne. House is located on a karst region of exposed limestone, low elevation, Brick wall, cement foundations, corrugated steel roof. House next door is timber framed and the Hum is far less audible. I live away from industrial buildings and have ruled out local electrical/mechanical sources.
What they reported
First noticed: 2015
Pitch: 55 to 59 Hz
Loudest: During the night
Where: Indoors
Changes with weather: Wind noise masks the Hum. But it does not change. There is NO correlation with High/Low air pressure etc
What stood out: a low hum

Like a base guitar that's too close to the speaker ,a very low rumble I seem to get strong vibrations, (not good vibrations!) before the hum gets going after being off. These can last for a …

Low, bass like humming noise, like a muffled bathroom fan, pulsating. It's a really bizarre experience, it feels like more than just something I'm hearing, it's almost as though there are vi…

Low frequency hum The hum is loudest inside the house but sounds like it is coming from outside. When I go outside it is still audible but less so with ambient noise and I cannot determine a…
