A low hum in Switzerland, Lausanne

Low frequency undulating sound like a truck or engine working in the distance. I have done work to eliminate possible sources (for instance the buildings pumps etc). Including talking to authorities that were dismissive and putting the burden of source identification on me. One more thing: equipped with Bose Q35 headphones (excellent noise cancelling) I am now able to hear the hum outdoors. Since it eliminates a lot of other noises, it makes the hum clearer. That allowed me to travel around the region and try to see if there are boundaries. I normally do this excursions in calm no wind evenings where the hum is pretty strong here in my place.
