freight train from a long way off. large diesel generator as heard from a great distance. loud speaker amplifier hum coming from speakers when no other sound is played. comes from every direction it seems. loudest when all else is quiet. i live in a quiet town on a quiet street with no heavy industry. evenings are so quiet you could hear a mouse fart! However there is power line on the street in front of my house with a transformer and same in back yard, that i can hear, but the frequency seems higher. only sewer and water for utility connections. metal roof .also I can hear it when in my garage. same tone, same volume. When I'm standing outside, i can't hear it but inside a building or vehicle its there. Also re insulated my house lately from 4 to 6 inches thick walls and it actually seems louder. perhaps filtering out more high sounds.

Low pitch humming like a distant drone, constant low bass humming. At first I thought it was a distant engine, or electric transformer, or factory sounds in the distance... but I have ruled…

Low frequency, under 40 Hz, sounds like an industrial air compressor running, shutting off briefly and randomly, and running again. Not a continuous sound sensation, and the pitch does not …

Low pitch hum. Like an engine running down the street. Or a pump on a boiler. I live in a quiet area. I can't hear it outside. Only in the house. Louder when the windows are closed. I turned…

Constant, something between soil compactor and multiple trucks with engines on staying in the traffic. It's very low in frequency and very quiet, but possible to be heard in closed room at n…
