Low mechanical hum that is louder in-doors than outdoors. Worse when there is snow in the ground. My theory is that when I am stressed my tempanuc membrane becomes tighter and may pick it up. Or, Im picking it up in my jaw. I have aspbergers and am sensitive to high frequency sounds and low hum but mid range conversation level sound can be hard for me to sort. I think its bed rock very very slowly slipping below the soil against other bedrock and its causing a hum like a violin bow over strings. Cathode tune noise used to really bother me as a kid, and I could/can still hear it when my ears are covered. I remember selling Boy Scout tickets door to door as a child and approaching a house I could tell if their tv was on. Sky noise does not bother me as much. If I camp at the bae of a mount Elbert in Chaffee county, Co I can sometimes hear the sky splitting around the peak as a low rumble like a jet far away that never gets closer or further. That noise is ok for me most of he time.
What they reported
First noticed: 2012
Pitch: 83 hz sine wave
Loudest: During the night
Where: Indoors
Symptoms: Headache, Insomnia, Nausea, Sense of vibration, Anxiety, I feel like I have to flee
Changes with weather: Louder in cold weather- seems to be louder when snow is on the ground. There is a transformer that sits on a cement pad about a half mile away near a retention pond. I thought that maybe the water in the ground and snow helps conduct the hum. But Ive not been able to verify it. When I put my hands on the enclosure I can feel a low cycle vibration but I can hear anything unless I rest my jaw on it and its not the same that I hear at my house. Ive turned off the power to my house at the breaker box and I still can pick it up. Ive heard a hum camping several times- this has occurred elsewhere and I cant figure it out.
