both described an orange orb
Yvelines, France · 1980-07-21 · from the GEIPAN archive
This observation case is one of those classified as "C" by GEPAN, under the name SAINT-CYR L'ECOLE (78) 21.07.1980. It was recently re-examined (see the document Investigation Notes). On July 21, 1980 at 6:25 a.m., a witness spotted, from his apartment on the 5th floor, an orange glow in a perfectly clear sky. Moving onto his balcony, he then made out a half-sphere of bright orange color. This object remained stationary for one minute before moving in a straight line and disappearing. No other information was collected by the gendarmerie. This case has little substance (single witness, short observation), but the description of the observed UAP is fairly precise. The sincerity and credibility of the witness have never been questioned. The phenomenon described shares many common characteristics (shape, size, color) with a perfectly well-known astronomical object: the Sun. Moreover, the Sun was indeed present in the area of sky observed. It is not the witness's visual perception that is in question, but the interpretation the witness makes of his observation through his own perception (observation of the Sun through clouds). In the current GEIPAN classification, this case of low strangeness is classified as "A", observation linked to a misidentification with the Sun.
