On Friday, March 2, 2018 at 2:32 a.m., a witness is on the balcony of a cabin on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. The sky is lit by the full Moon and dotted with clouds. While trying to take souvenir photos of this moonlight, the witness is surprised and intrigued by an extremely bright and white phenomenon. The witness takes two photographs just before the UAP suddenly disappears. Upon returning to their cabin, this person is surprised to have stayed outside in the cold much longer than they thought. Only one testimony will be collected. The witness observed and photographed Jupiter. The UAP described in the photo is located exactly at Jupiter's position: - this UAP is found a little less than 90° to the left of the Moon, since the Moon is described as being directly off the port side of the ship and the UAP is described as being almost directly astern (slightly to port as seen in the photo) of the ship. The witness's drawing also shows this offset of nearly 90° between the Moon and the UAP; - thanks to the IPACO analysis software, it is easy to determine the height above the horizon of the UAP and also to measure that of the Moon. The latter allows finding the exact time of the photo; - one verifies that at the time and place of the observation, Jupiter is like the UAP at a height of 19° above the horizon and offset 85° to the left of the Moon. Due to a shot taken with a long exposure duration (1 second), Jupiter appears with significant blur drawing arabesques that vary from one shot to another. The photo largely contributed to the strangeness perceived by the witness, far beyond what they could see with their own eyes. They consider, for example, that the two successive photos correspond to different faces of the UAP in evolution (they say "which is moreover very well determined in the 2nd photo taken 4 seconds apart and which shows another very different face"). The witness speaks of a "clear sky with a few leftover clouds from time to time," which perfectly explains that their gaze was attracted to Jupiter, a highly bright celestial body that evening, as well as the sudden disappearance of the UAP by a cloud coming to hide Jupiter. This testimony illustrates what happens to many witnesses, across all social backgrounds: - the level of strangeness that a star can generate, and in particular here the strangeness component created by the camera: this witness loses their sense of time (1h40 in reality occupied by the UAP versus 15 minutes perceived), perceives "an immense flying object, extremely bright and of very surprising shape, appearing to have a size more imposing than a large airplane"; - the satisfaction that the feeling and the luck of having seen and photographed a UFO can provide in a witness; - the necessity, faced with a sincerely observed strangeness, of finding an explanation for being the only one to notice the strangeness while other people were in a position to do so. Here, our witness thinks that the ship's crew "very probably decided rather not to spread the information, despite their interest in this phenomenon certainly TOO strange, for fear of destabilizing certain passengers or crew, especially since it is a cruise."
