An orange orb in Loiret, France
On August 23, 2016, between 9:15 PM and 9:30 PM, a witness and his son, on the outdoor terrace of their home, are intrigued by the silent movement in the sky of an incandescent orange sphere. The witness distinguishes flames on the object and its surface. This "fireball," as described by the child, moves from East to West without changing direction until the witness loses sight of it. No noise, no trail is noticed. The observation lasts 30 seconds. Only one testimony is collected.
The whole thing is perfectly consistent with an observation of a release of lanterns (see the investigation report):
- the movement is consistent with the direction of the wind;
- the appearance, color, and brightness of the UAP are consistent;
- it is a summer night conducive to a festive event.
