Vanishing suddenly in Landes, France
On December 24, 2012 at approximately 9:45 PM, a family observes for 5 minutes the silent movements of 6 to 8 luminous points of red to orange-yellow color. They appear successively at the same frequency and seem to follow each other at equal distance in the sky. All have an ascending trajectory. Some disappear instantly. One witness makes a video.
The witnesses' observation is characteristic of an observation of a release of Thai lanterns, both in terms of colors, shapes, type of trajectory, including extinction in flight (disappearance by end of combustion of the burner). The direction of rapid movement from South to North corresponds to the wind measured at Biarritz (fairly strong south wind reading on infoclimat).
