On August 16, 2015 between 12:40 a.m. and 12:45 a.m., a witness, accompanied by friends, observes in the sky three equidistant white lights forming a perfect triangle. The object moves slowly and silently, then suddenly disappears. His friends did not have time to see the phenomenon. No other testimony will be collected. Between the lights, the witness distinguishes a black triangle of low thickness. This triangle may be the result of a perception illusion called contour illusion or shape illusion (see Gestalt psychology). The movement is observed toward the West; if these are lights carried by the wind, their movement seems incompatible with the west wind recorded at Béziers weather station. But the observation is very short, and a local breeze is always possible by the seaside. This case presents a low level of consistency: very short observation, witnesses present noticed nothing; if the contour illusion is accepted, this case is not very strange, and may correspond to illuminated balloons (LED balloons or Thai lanterns), frequently launched on festive occasions (it is the evening of August 15, in the middle of a tourist area).
