On March 5, 2015, two witnesses driving in a car successively observe in the sky several phenomena of different shapes that they cannot explain. Only one testimony is collected. The witness actually observes 3 successive phenomena: 1- an elongated object, black and matte mass, made up of several white lights at different heights. A fin is visible. A check of civil air traffic shows a low-altitude aircraft, approaching Lille-Lesquin aerodrome, in the witness's direction of observation: flight EZY693F, whose yellow-orange fin is indeed noted by the witness (see Flightradar record). This phenomenon is therefore perfectly identified and classified "A": observation of an aircraft. 2- the witness then sees a yellow light fairly high in the sky, in a direction close to that of the Moon. An astronomical check (see Calsky record) tells us that this is the time of year favorable to sunlight reflections on geostationary satellites, exactly in that direction: however, it is difficult to certify this hypothesis. This phenomenon is probably identified as a reflection on a satellite and classified "B". 3- his last observation concerns a cigar-shaped object, similar to the first, but without a fin. A check of civil air traffic shows no low-altitude aircraft in the observed direction. Given the similarity with the first phenomenon, which was an aircraft, the aircraft hypothesis is favored: the fact that it does not appear on civil air traffic records suggests that it could be a military aircraft, consequently less illuminated than a civil aircraft. Given the low strangeness of the case, GEIPAN did not have research done on military air traffic.
