A triangle shape in Haute-Savoie, France
On September 1, 2014 between 11:30 PM and 11:40 PM, a witness in their bedroom on the 5th floor observes for a few seconds through their window a triangular flying object made up of 6 non-dazzling white spots, moving at low speed at less than 50m in height. The witness saw the triangular UAP in profile without seeing any "mass" disappear from view above a neighboring building. No noise is heard during this "unexpected" observation. No other testimony is reported.
This case was the subject of a meeting with the witness for a reconstruction and an interview (which notably made it possible to refine the observation time (between 11 PM and midnight on the questionnaire)). The description of the UAP(s) (gliding appearance, speed, V-shaped configuration, size, as well as other elements) strongly supports an observation of a flight of migratory birds (graylag geese) heading toward the eastern area of Lake Geneva (presence of a bird reserve) or of local birds (swans) disturbed by concert noises that evening. In both cases, the city lights reflect on the plumage to give the appearance as described (see the investigation report).
Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as B: probable observation of birds.
