On May 17, 2010 at around 9:45 PM, a couple observes in the sky the slow fall of a triangular object on fire. The main witness thinks it is the fall of a burning microlight aircraft. From this object, another object comes off, forming a torch. No other testimony will be collected. Given the scale of the searches carried out by the gendarmerie, the hypothesis of a microlight aircraft crash can be ruled out. One can then think of a misidentification with the fall of space debris (the appearance and duration of the observation may match). A tracked piece of debris re-entered the atmosphere that day (29569 DELTA 4 DEB), but the inclination of its orbit of 98° does not match the observation (toward E-NE); this hypothesis cannot be confirmed. GEIPAN classifies this case "C": lack of information to conclude.
