On July 14, 2012 at 10:50 PM, during municipal festivities and before the fireworks began, a witness was intrigued by the silent passage from East to West of an orange light. The appearance of the object (halo of orange light), its mode of movement consistent with the strong westerly wind (see Meteociel data), its short duration, and the observation on the day of the national holiday are in all respects compatible with the passage of a Thai lantern. The witness, unfamiliar with this type of object, could not estimate its actual distance or size. GEIPAN did not conduct research to find those who released the lantern.
