On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, between 3:27 and 3:35 in the morning, several dozen witnesses observed a sky suddenly lit up as if in broad daylight, followed by an object, often described as green/blue in color, making a passage of 4 to 5 seconds. Some of them also heard one or two explosions, a few seconds after the passage of the phenomenon. A few report fragmentation. The fifty or so witnesses located across a large southern region (Ariège, Aveyron, Aude, Gironde, Haute Garonne, Tarn, Tarn and Garonne) who contacted GEIPAN provided precise details on this observation. The preliminary data thus collected indicate a trajectory oriented North-South, with a slight shift from East to West. The bolide seems to have ended its course in a triangular zone Andorra/Carcassonne/Perpignan.
