An open record of things people cannot explain

Photographed in Haute-Corse, France

A witness reports an observation made at night on August 30 or 31, 2009, from the terrace of his home. A pair of blinking, static lights appears above the sea. Through binoculars, the witness notes that these lights are connected to each other by "a flat, elongated base like a line." After twenty to thirty minutes of observation, the object eventually moves away toward the East. No other testimony will be collected. On an old photograph he sends us, the witness draws his observation. The time given (approximately) 2:30 a.m. will not be validated by the investigator (see investigation report). The hypotheses (scintillation of stars, stars and even planets as possible boat lights or lights on the island of Pianosa) are unlikely. This observation case is in fact not very strange, but the weak consistency of the testimony and the impossibility of validating the hypothesis of fires on the sea do not allow a clear conclusion. This case is classified C due to the inconsistencies noted.
