Green light in Haut-Rhin, France
On November 12, 2008 at about 10:40 PM, a motorist observed the passage, in a descending curve, of a green light followed by a cone-shaped trail. The observation lasted only a few seconds.
The testimony is consistent and the phenomenon is corroborated by two other independent witnesses (found on a forum) and very far away, or even by a radio recording (see the investigation report).
This observation matches well, as the witness suspected after some research, the re-entry into the atmosphere of a meteor. In reality it comes from the Taurids "North" swarm which produces beautiful, fairly slow fireballs. The day also corresponds to the peak activity of this swarm which, observed elsewhere, was active at that time. Two testimonies from the Bordeaux region, compatible in time, description and trajectory, confirm, given the distance separating Bordeaux from Carspach, that the UAP was necessarily at high altitude. This further reinforces the retained hypothesis.
Consequently, GEIPAN classifies the case as A: meteoroid re-entry.
