An orange orb in Ain, France

In the night of April 16 to 17, 2010 at 1:10 a.m. around Bourg-en-Bresse, a female driver and her daughter observe the very rapid passage in the sky of a luminous phenomenon. During its descending trajectory, a green ball splits into two then disappears. According to the information received (questionnaire, drawing, and photo of the viewing angle in the car), these people probably observed the atmospheric reentry of a meteor. This fireball was observed and photographed by the amateur station of Chaligny (south of Nancy) of the BOAM network (Amateur Meteor Observation Database). The description (precise date and time of the observation, direction, green light characteristic of the ionization of the atmosphere, the movement and the trajectory at high altitude seeming "parallel" to the horizon, distance greater than 100 km) and the drawings of the observation by the witness correspond well to the recording of the fireball made by the BOAM station.
