Wildwood, Powell River · 2019-03-30 · from the WORLDHUMMAP archive
very low vibrating, grinding hum, sort of slowly pulsing, induces headaches & nausea sometimes, periods of quiet (weeks+) then back on non-stop for weeks-months I've only lived in Wildwood for a few years, formerly always lived in more remote areas. WW is not that far from the mill, but the sound doesn't seem like its coming from there & is NOT louder in Townsite, which is right beside the mill. I've also heard it may come from a water treatment reservoir north of WW, but again, it doesn't seem like the right direction. Most people either can't hear or can barely hear it, but in the last week I've heard a few strangers remark about how maddening it is. I'll be calling the City next week, JUST in case they have some idea +/or there is some human activity that can be managed to tone it down. It has triggered insane headaches, made me dizzy & nauseous. THANK YOU to whoever got this site together! I had no idea so many other people were being driven bananas by The HUM too (or that the hum was even a real thing- this sound can make ya feel nuts, especially if not everyone can hear/feel it)!!!
What they reported
First noticed: 2017
Pitch: Closest I could get (on crappy laptop speakers) was around 20-25hz, sawtooth x triangle, but the hum I hear pulses more & I can feel as well as hear
Loudest: Equal night and day
Where: Indoors
Symptoms: Headache, Insomnia, Nausea, Sense of vibration, utter frustration. it does. not. stop.
Changes with weather: Wind & heavy rain is a great distraction ;)
What stood out: a low humpulsing lightnausea
