Low persistent hum that I only become aware of at night I have tried turning off the electricity thinking it might be something like a fridge but that doesnt work. Ive been out walking around the neighbourhood in the middle of the night to see if there are any lorries parked up nearby. I know my neighbour keeps computer servers in his shed/office but it doesnt seem to be any louder near there than at the front of the house.
