Low and rumbling, it pulses, it can go through walls and is louder at night. I started hearing it last winter. It's painful and distracting. This is something I think I've probably heard my whole life and dismissed as something else. I had chronic migraines as a child, and it still doesn't take much for me to get one, I have always been extremely sensitive to sound to the point where people will tell me I'm imagining things, but when I started noticing the hum last year and realized it was something larger than some truck in the distance, I realized that it has probably been a big factor in a lot of my pain and anxiety. My roommate heard it twice while living with me, but other than that I don't know if anyone else I know can hear it, and every time I talk about it I sound crazy, but I am 100% sure it's there.
