Sometimes pulsing, sometimes droning, often a combination of both It is hard to answer the headshake question because when I move my neck/head back and forth my neck joints make a noise, and the faster I move my head, the louder the noise. That, combined with the fact that the Hum has split second intervals of silence between the pulses or beats make it difficult to answer. When I move my head back and forth more slowly, I can still hear it. When I move it quickly, I'm generating noise myself so it's hard to say. Also, if the hum isn't loud it can be blocked by the bathroom fan or refrigerator coming on, but often, especially this time of year, it's too loud to be blocked by those other noises.

It's similar to the sound of my fridge when the motor cuts in, only a bit lower in frequency. I can also compare it to the distant, low sound of an engine running or a cement mixer on a dist…
