distant idling large diesel engine (locomotive) - kind of pulsing One thing I did take note of it was still there during a major power outage that took out the whole town and surrounding area for 24 hours eliminating anything electrical. There probably was some small backup generator running somewhere but it wouldn't be large enough to simulate the hum I hear. I'm quite familiar with all sizes and types right up to Locomotive.
