Ardennes, France · 1980-05-26 · from the GEIPAN archive
On May 26, 1980 at around 10:45 PM, several witnesses, including police officers, would see a luminous phenomenon in the sky. Two objects, red in color and circular in shape, fell slowly toward the ground at a constant speed. Then red glows appeared, rising into the air before disappearing. Some witnesses would see reddish smoke. The investigation would show that people had, that evening and without ill intent, launched marine distress flares because these were no longer up to standard and could no longer be used at sea.
