On December 3, 2017 at 00:16, while filming outdoors with a smartphone in camera mode, a witness suddenly sees a bright light appear to his right and hears a double clap coming from his left. The whole thing lasted two seconds. When he gets home he notes that the UAP was filmed and that the sound can be heard much more "clearly" than he had been able to hear it. No other testimony is collected. We were able to demonstrate over the course of the analysis (see the investigation report) that the UAP seen and filmed by the witness was only a small object moving rapidly very close to the lens, probably an insect. This result is based on the following points: - the rapid movement of the UAP, combined with the exposure time of each frame, results in an artificial elongated shape, which is in no way representative of the true shape of this UAP; - at the same time, this movement is probably not parallel to the focal plane of the lens, which results in a decrease in the apparent length of the UAP as it moves; - the automatic use of the flash in nighttime conditions strongly illuminates the UAP, which gives it that characteristic white color, and already suggests that it is not far from the lens, the range of the flash being very limited; - the identification of two blurs, combined on the longitudinal plane: an anisotropic motion blur, horizontal, and an isotropic focusing blur, both vertical and horizontal. The presence of this latter blur confirms the impression of the previous point, namely that the UAP was very close to the lens, and consequently small in size. The proximity to the lens and therefore to the flash explains how the object, despite its small size, could appear as a bright light to the witness's own eyes. The witness perceived a noise, the device recorded it and reproduces it as a whoosh synchronous with the passage of the UAP and therefore presumably created by it. The sound level is comparable to that of the witness's breathing and could correspond to the whoosh of an insect passing by without it necessarily being large or very close. The whoosh is harder to explain for an object other than an insect because the wind creating the movement would have been recorded. Consequently GEIPAN classifies this as B: probable observation of an insect attracted in its trajectory by the light of the flash.
