A low hum in Alpes-Maritimes, France
On July 20, 2015, two people at their home are intrigued by the slow movement in the sky of an object with several lights of different colors. A motor hum is heard. The UAP moves in a straight line from North to South. The observation lasts between 4 and 7 minutes. Only one testimony is sent to GEIPAN.
Given the elements collected (see the investigation report), namely:
- Observation of lights whose colors are identical to those of aircraft navigation lights.
- Positioning of these lights correct relative to the direction of movement of the UAP and the position of the witnesses.
- Observation of the beam of a searchlight comparable to that fitted to helicopters of the civil security and the Gendarmerie.
- Perception of a motor noise identical to that of an airplane.
GEIPAN classifies this case as "B" as a probable observation of a helicopter.
Given the low strangeness of the observation, GEIPAN did not conduct searches with the national gendarmerie or air traffic control.
