On October 26, 2014, the pilot of a business aircraft (Cessna), 3 minutes after taking off from Nice airport at 15:21 UTC, reports having very quickly crossed paths with a dark, rectangular spot that passed very close to his windshield, on a north/south trajectory at flight level 115. His passenger on his right also saw the object but did not report his observation. The observation took place above the town of Le Bar-Sur-Loup (06). Given the objective elements defined in the investigation report (attached document), namely: - the aircraft flying over a protected area sheltering numerous bird species, - among these birds, some are black, large, diurnal, and capable of flying at an altitude identical to that at which the aircraft was, GEIPAN classifies this case as "B" as a probable observation of a large bird (eagle, falcon, harrier, kite, vulture...) hunting or migrating.
