A dark figure in Rh�ne, France
On January 10, 2015 at 6:08 PM, a motorist was intrigued by two very bright points fairly low in the sky. He took a photo. No other testimony was collected.
This testimony of two bright points separated by a dark mass suggests an aircraft at medium or low altitude: the Flight Radar data (at 5:01 PM UTC) indicates that the Nantes-Lyon flight was flying over Communay at less than 2500 m altitude (see screenshot). The changes in direction noted by the witness could also come from observing another aircraft due to the fairly heavy traffic in that area, even at medium and low altitude. For example, one hour later, 3 HOP aircraft were noted following each other a few minutes apart on a NW to SE trajectory at less than 2500m at the same location.
GEIPAN classifies this case "B" probable observation of low-altitude aircraft.
